The Repair Process
Once arriving on the job our technician fully inspected the damage and surround areas to make sure there was no underlying or secondary damage. Firstly the technician needed to gain access to the back of the dent, this was achieved by stripping out the interior trim panel. Once access had been gained we then stabilized the panel with a prop and rope ratchet to make sure the panel was secure throughout the repair process.
After setting up our specialist led light board to read the dent we carefully warmed the panel up, this is done for two reasons. Firstly to help the metal to become more malleable and secondly to stop the paint from cracking in the high pressure areas. Once the panel was heated to a optimal working temperature we started to carefully push the dent from the underside using a special metal rod and rubber tip.
The point of the dent that holds the most pressure is where we start our pushes, carefully watching the metals reaction and addressing any high areas or crowns. During the repair process we will keep adding heat to the panel and carefully manipulating the metal until our light board shows the panel is true again. We will then change various positions to make sure the panel is true from every angle. Once complete we then refitted the interior trim panel and gave the panel a complementary polish.
